There are alot of Singer haters on this board (kind of like the PC/Mac rivalry) and I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth in support. Point understand what you were saying but you told her to look elsewhere. I belive there are some very happy Futura owners out there.

I'm just saying, you can spend the same money elseware and get a better machine with a better repair history. Do you have an authorized service center in your area? During your service warranty time frame,an unauthorized service center that works on your machine, voids the warranty. But labor isn't cheap and Futuras have a history of needing repairs. Sure you have the 5-10- and 25 year warrantys.
I checked on the warranty and it offers a one year adjustment. I believe all the futura's use the same software. It sends blocks of color to the machine one at a time but you can send the whole thing if you want to embroider in all one color.

You don't have to buy separate software for it unless you want to use your TrueType fonts, embroider a photograph, etc. The SES 2000 sews faster than the Brother. I have a SES 2000 and also a Brother LB 6800. :D I have all Singers both vintage and new and I have never had a problem with the new ones (and I'm hard on sewing machines) :cry: Thank God for that because as you eluded to authorized services centers are scarce in my area :cry:
